The castle is a 13th century stone keep and courtyard fortress and is the only surviving medieval castle in the Western Isles. Within the complete curtain wall, is a Great Hall, kitchen, chapel and a dungeon, all flanked by a high keep. Currently the home of the clan MacNeil.
